Transcriptomics integrated with metabolomics reveals the mechanism of CaCl <sub>2</sub>-HCl electrolyzed water-induced glucosinolate biosynthesis in broccoli sprouts

Glucosinolates are important phytochemicals in Brassicaceae. We investigated the effect of CaCl2-HCl electrolyzed water (CHEW) on glucosinolates biosynthesis broccoli sprouts. The results showed that CHEW treatment significantly decreased reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents On eighth day, compared to tap treatment, total glucosinolate content sprouts with increased by 10.6% calcium was dramatically enhanced from 14.4 22.7 mg/g DW. Comparative transcriptome metabolome analyses revealed activated ROS signaling transduction pathways they interacted through MAPK cascades. Besides, not only promoted amino acids, but also expression structural genes synthesis transcription factors (MYBs, bHLHs, WRKYs, etc.). this study provided new insights into regulatory network under treatment.
